The Schoolhouse Hotel & Gastrobar is a well-loved 4-star boutique property in the heart of Ballsbridge, D4. Originally built in 1859, we are a family-run business with a distinctive character — our Gastrobar drives the heart of what we do, and our reputation is built on genuine hospitality, quality food and a loyal guest following. We are a small, close-knit team and we take real pride in how we present ourselves to the world.
THE ROLE
This is a great opportunity for an enterprising graduate or someone with a couple of years’ experience who combines creative flair with commercial awareness. You will take ownership of our social media channels, digital marketing and online presence, using content, partnerships and data-driven campaigns to grow our audience, strengthen our reputation and drive bookings and revenue across the hotel and Gastrobar. This is a varied, hands-on role that suits someone who is proactive, digitally savvy and genuinely excited by hospitality.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media & Content

- Plan, create and publish engaging content across all platforms in line with a rolling calendar of events, seasonal promotions, local fixtures and hotel activities.
- Ensure all social content is mirrored and maintained on our website, keeping it current, accurate and visually strong.
- Monitor trends in the hospitality and food & beverage space and bring fresh, timely ideas to our content strategy.
- Manage community engagement — responding to comments, messages and reviews in a professional and brand-appropriate way.
- Use Canva and graphic design tools to produce high-quality visual content in line with our brand guidelines.
Partnerships, Influencers & Business Development
- Identify and develop relationships with local businesses, event organisers and community partners to create collaborative promotional opportunities.
- Research and approach relevant influencers and content creators — particularly in the Dublin food, lifestyle and travel space — to amplify our reach and support key campaigns.
- Support the promotion of corporate events, private dining and group bookings through targeted digital activity.
- Explore and develop partnership opportunities that align with our brand values and drive footfall, bookings and awareness.
OTAs, Reviews & Reputation Management
- Work closely with the revenue management and sales team to align boosted visibility on OTA platforms with social and digital campaigns.
- Drive a proactive review capture strategy across TripAdvisor, Google and OpenTable, working with front-of-house and F&B teams to encourage guest feedback.
- Monitor our online reputation and flag trends or issues for management attention.
Digital Marketing & Campaigns
- Plan and deliver email marketing campaigns — including newsletters, seasonal promotions and returning guest initiatives — to grow and engage our CRM database.
- Analyse website and campaign analytics; use insights to improve user journeys, increase traffic and support revenue targets.
- Optimise website content on an ongoing basis, including seasonal updates, menus, CTAs and promotional content.
- Ensure all digital communications are GDPR-compliant.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a commercial digital marketing environment, or a recently qualified graduate with demonstrable practical experience.
- Proficiency in Canva is essential; experience with Photoshop or other graphic design tools is a strong advantage.
- Proven experience managing Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for a business or brand.
- Solid understanding of SEO, email marketing, social media strategy and digital analytics tools.
- Experience with website content management and updates.
- Comfortable building relationships — with partners, influencers and internal teams alike.
- Knowledge of OTA platforms, online reputation management and CRM systems is desirable.
- Understanding of GDPR and data privacy requirements.
- Excellent communication skills — able to present ideas and results with confidence to senior management.
- Creative, self-driven and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
