IT Systems Specialist – Jobs.ie

Our client, a well-established and highly recognised national distribution organisation, is seeking to recruit a Technical Systems Specialist to join their IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong all-rounder who enjoys working across business systems, applications, integrations and software projects in a fast-paced commercial environment.

This role will suit someone who is equally comfortable troubleshooting complex system issues, supporting software development activities and working closely with vendors, developers and internal business users. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and improving core business applications and delivering technology projects across the organisation.

The Role:

  • Support business systems, cloud-hosted applications, integrations and API-based services.
  • Work closely with third-party development partners on requirements gathering, testing, documentation and release preparation.
  • Assist with system improvements, version control, code reviews and technical documentation.
  • Develop internal tools, scripts and utilities to improve operational efficiency and automation.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex application, workflow and systems issues.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution of software and systems-related incidents.
  • Support internal users and external partners during system rollouts, upgrades and planned changes.
  • Collaborate with developers and vendors to resolve defects, integration issues and performance problems.
  • Deliver software and technology projects using structured project management methodologies.
  • Capture business requirements, define project scope and document workflows and processes.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support change management activities and adoption of new systems and features.
  • Carry out functional, regression and integration testing across business applications.
  • Maintain test plans, quality documentation and user acceptance testing processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems and workflows through automation and AI-driven tools.
  • Assist users with the effective and responsible adoption of AI technologies within the business.

The Person:

  • Relevant third-level qualification in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in a systems, software or applications-focused IT role.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage issues through to resolution.
  • Good experience supporting business applications, integrations and APIs.
  • Experience working across software project lifecycles including requirements gathering, testing and deployment.
  • Strong SQL Server experience for querying, troubleshooting and understanding data flows.
  • Comfortable working with APIs, file transfers, automation tools and system-to-system integrations.
  • PowerShell or scripting experience would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a small collaborative IT team where responsibilities can overlap.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Project management certification such as PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum would be an advantage.
