Main Responsibilities for the successful Senior IT Engineer:

As a Senior IT Engineer, you will split your time between client project work, service desk escalations, and on-site installations. This is a field-based role, requiring travel to client sites across Ireland.

Project Delivery

  • Act as senior engineer on infrastructure and cloud projects, taking full technical ownership from kick-off through to successful handover
  • Plan and execute on-site installations, hardware configurations, system migrations, and solution deployments in line with agreed scope and timelines
  • Carry out site surveys, infrastructure audits, and health checks at client premises ahead of project commencement
  • Coordinate with internal engineers, vendors, and third parties to ensure smooth, on-time delivery within budget
  • Manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle, communicating clearly, escalating proactively, and ensuring quality at every stage
  • Produce accurate and thorough project documentation including as-built records, post-implementation reports, and client handover packs

Technical Delivery

  • Own the deployment and configuration of solutions across-Microsoft Azure/ Microsoft 365 / Networking/ Firewalls/ Virtualisation/ Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • Handle technically complex escalations from the support desk that require senior project-level input
  • Contribute to solution design and technical scoping as part of the pre-project discovery process
  • Apply automation where appropriate — leveraging PowerShell, Intune, and Azure Automation to deliver consistent and efficient outcomes

Team and Standards

  • Work closely with L1/L2 support engineers, mentoring where needed and ensuring a smooth transition into managed service post-project
  • Maintain and contribute to internal knowledge bases, runbooks, and project templates
  • Participate in internal project reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes
  • Represent company professionally on client sites, building confidence through the quality of your work and communication.

Main requirements for the successful Senior IT Engineer:

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar IT support role; MSP experience is highly advantageous.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Proven experience supporting Windows 10/11 desktops; exposure to Windows Server 2019/2022 is a distinct advantage.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, and patch panels.
  • Excellent customer service mindset with clear, confident verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+, Microsoft 365, or Azure are desirable.
  • Full, clean driving licence is essential
