About the Role
Avoca is seeking a commercially aware and hands-on GL Accountant to join the Finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role will support the management of the general ledger across a fast-paced multi-site retail and hospitality business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, revenue reporting, compliance and financial controls while supporting continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across the Avoca Group
- Complete weekly and monthly reconciliations including cash, bank and intercompany accounts
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, CAPEX, stock and COGS journals
- Reconcile retail sales data across EPOS systems and Oracle Cloud
- Support revenue recognition and online sales reporting
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations within BlackLine
- Support VAT, VIES, Intrastat, RTD and CSO filings
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements
- Support finance process improvement initiatives
- Work closely with finance and operational teams across the business
Skills & Experience
- 2-4 years’ accounting experience
- Experience in retail, hospitality or multi-site environments desirable
- Strong understanding of Irish accounting standards and VAT regulations
- Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
- Experience working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience with Oracle, Cognos BI, EPOS systems or similar ERP platforms advantageous
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Qualified accountant, finalist accountant or qualified by experience
- ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications advantageous
