About the Role

Avoca is seeking a commercially aware and hands-on GL Accountant to join the Finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role will support the management of the general ledger across a fast-paced multi-site retail and hospitality business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, revenue reporting, compliance and financial controls while supporting continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across the Avoca Group
• Complete weekly and monthly reconciliations including cash, bank and intercompany accounts
• Support month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, CAPEX, stock and COGS journals
• Reconcile retail sales data across EPOS systems and Oracle Cloud
• Support revenue recognition and online sales reporting
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations within BlackLine
• Support VAT, VIES, Intrastat, RTD and CSO filings
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements
• Support finance process improvement initiatives
• Work closely with finance and operational teams across the business

Skills & Experience

• 2-4 years’ accounting experience
• Experience in retail, hospitality or multi-site environments desirable
• Strong understanding of Irish accounting standards and VAT regulations
• Strong Excel and reconciliation skills
• Experience working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Experience with Oracle, Cognos BI, EPOS systems or similar ERP platforms advantageous

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• Qualified accountant, finalist accountant or qualified by experience
• ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications advantageous
